Scientists hope to inject robo-cat with AI to help seniors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Imagine a cat that may maintain an individual firm, would not want a litter field and may remind an getting old relative to take her drugs or help discover her eyeglasses.
That’s the imaginative and prescient of toymaker Hasbro and scientists at Brown University, who’ve obtained a three-year, $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to discover methods to add synthetic intelligence to Hasbro’s “Joy for All” robotic cat .
The cat, which has been in the marketplace for 2 years, is aimed toward seniors and meant to act as a “companion.” It purrs and meows, and even seems to lick its paw and roll over to ask for a stomach rub. The Brown-Hasbro undertaking is aimed toward growing further capabilities for the cats to help older adults with easy duties.
